WHAT IS THE JUVENILE DIVERSION PROGRAM?

It is a program that provides early intervention on the local level to first time offenders and their families who are experiencing difficulty.

 

 

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE PROGRAM?

Restore the authority of the parents.
Monitor the juvenile and hold the accountable.
Counsel the juvenile to make good decisions.
Give the juvenile skills to be a productive member of the community.

 

WHAT IS THE CRITERIA TO ENTER THE PROGRAM?

 

Must be a Hubbard Township or City resident.
Between the ages of 11 and 17.
Have parent or guardian consent.
Have comitted one or more of the following offenses:

Truancy
Curfew Violation
Unruly Behavior
Public Intoxication
Disorderly Conduct
Simple Assault
Criminal Mischief
Underage Smoking

 

WHO CANNOT ENTER THE PROGRAM?

A felony offender.
Any person currently on official probation or involved in the county diversion program.

 

WHO CAN MAKE REFERRALS?

Police Department
Schools
Teachers
Parents / Guardians
Social Service Agencies
Courts

WHAT SERVICES WILL BE OFFERED?

Accountability for actions & reporting.
School performance checks and evaluation.
Community service program.
Life Skills training.
Study Skills training.
Mentor Programs.
Parenting Skills training.
Drud and Alcohol education.
Referrals to other community agencies.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROGRAM RUN?

Thirty to Ninety days with extensions if they are needed.
