WHAT IS THE JUVENILE DIVERSION PROGRAM?

It is a program that provides early intervention on the local level to first time offenders and their families who are experiencing difficulty.

 

 

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE PROGRAM?

· Restore the authority of the parents.
· Monitor the juvenile and hold the accountable.
· Counsel the juvenile to make good decisions.
· Give the juvenile skills to be a productive member of the community.

 

WHAT IS THE CRITERIA TO ENTER THE PROGRAM?

 

· Must be a Hubbard Township or City resident.
· Between the ages of 11 and 17.
· Have parent or guardian consent.
· Have comitted one or more of the following offenses:

Truancy
Curfew Violation
Unruly Behavior
Public Intoxication
Disorderly Conduct
Simple Assault
Criminal Mischief
Underage Smoking

 

WHO CANNOT ENTER THE PROGRAM?

· A felony offender.
· Any person currently on official probation or involved in the county diversion program.

 

WHO CAN MAKE REFERRALS?

· Police Department
· Schools
· Teachers
· Parents / Guardians
· Social Service Agencies
· Courts

WHAT SERVICES WILL BE OFFERED?

· Accountability for actions & reporting.
· School performance checks and evaluation.
· Community service program.
· Life Skills training.
· Study Skills training.
· Mentor Programs.
· Parenting Skills training.
· Drud and Alcohol education.
· Referrals to other community agencies.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROGRAM RUN?

Thirty to Ninety days with extensions if they are needed.
